The main purpose of this book is to provide students with a tool for assessing their physiological skills listed in Guyton and Hall's textbook of medical physiology, 14th edition. Self-assessment is an important part of effective learning, especially when studying a subject as complex as medical physiology. The Guyton & Hall Physiology Review is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of medical physiology through multiple choice questions and explanatory answers. This book will also be useful for medical students who are preparing for the USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Examinations) exams.

An effective way to use this book is to leave an average of 1 minute per unit for each question, which estimates the time limit for the USMLE exam question. As you continue, show your answer to each question. After completing the questions and answers, verify your answers and read the explanations provided carefully. Read the supplementary material discussed in the Textbook of Medical Physiology, especially if incorrect answers are chosen.
